Honestly – the amout of doors we arrive to change locks on and find they’re not fire regulation compliant is scary. Back in October 2023 th law was changed so that any short term rental – like Airbnb for example should have locks fitted that are fire regulation compliant. This means should there be a fire in the accommodation you can exit the door without the need for keys. This is also the case for people living in flats, either rented or owned – and multiple occupancy properties.

Some people didn’t/don’t even know this is a thing. But think about it. In the event of an emergency – you should be able to flick a latch, turn a knob and pull a handle down and get out. Not faff around looking for a set of keys.

It’s not rocket science – but the amount of lives that could be put in danger is staggering.
